Sutton Coldfield Girls School

CGJ Services were approached in July 2016 to provide design and installation of M&E services to the proposed extension to Sutton Coldfield Girls School,in conjunction with Holloway Foo Architects and Paul Ravenhall Consulting.

The first part of the project was to modify some existing services within the existing areas, to facilitate the commencement of the main construction.

The main part of the project was an extension to the main building, to wrap around the existing dining area, which was then be modified and opened up to providea flexible space where 6th form students can relax in an informal environment. This space forms a link between the existing school and 6 new, modern classrooms, with its own plantroom, allowing the installation of standalone heating and hot water plant, independent of the main building.

All areas of the school are heated via LPHW, utilising a mixture of LST radiators and fanconvectors.

Lighting, internally and externally is via modern LED lighting with daylight dimming as applicable,with external lighting covering the car park areas.

Toilet area sare complete with extract ventilation, whereas internally occupied spaces have supply and extract ventilation with heat recovery.

Staff and teaching spaces are fitted with data and small power outlets as required,with domestic water services to all sanitary appliances.

Security is provided by intruder alarm and CCTV systems, providing an upgrade to the existing security systems within the building; similarly the fire alarm systems have been extended and upgraded to cover the new areas.

The project was completed in Summer 2017.
