CGJ Services have recently completed works at the new Redditch Police & Fire Hub. This is to replace the existing Fire Station on Birmingham Road and will the existing Police Station in the town centre.
This development aims to improve delivery services for local residents and the surrounding areas, ensuring better value for taxpayers money. Furthermore, it will improve joint response to emergency incidents by bringing both police and fire service delivery under one roof.
Predominantly an administrative hub, the building accommodates police operations including four interview rooms and a reception area, alongside three appliance bays for the fire service and a station communications office on the ground floor, with space for the Safer Neighbourhood Team, the Criminal Investigation Department and 6 no. individual sleeping quarters for fire service personnel at first floor level.
The second floor will include space for police teams and a pole drop for fire service teams to quickly access the ground floor. A drill tower and cart parking is also provided within the grounds. EV charging facilities are available in the car park.
Both services share a range of amenities including a main kitchen, gym, toilets, conference and meeting rooms.
Heating & cooling is delivered by 2 no. 4 pipe air source heat pumps on the roof, capable of delivering LPHW water and chilled water simultaneously, with a large PV array also at roof level.
New LED lighting was employed, and the building is ventilated by hybrid mechanical ventilation fan units serving the majority of office spaces, providing a mixture of natural and mechanical ventilation and dedicated mechanical heat recovery ventilation to core, accommodation & toilet areas.
All spaces have been fitted with data and small power outlets as required, with boosted cold water services to all sanitary and catering appliances, with hot water provided by modern electric heaters. Extensive security systems are in place due to the usage of the building.
The project was completed in Winter 2024.
