The UK Government Department for Education and Skills publishes strict guidance documentation on the design and construction of schools, in the form of Building Bulletins. These dictate the sizes, space, occupancy, and specification of all learning establishments required by this Governmental department.
When planning the design and installation of mechanical and electrical engineering solutions in educational establishments, it is essential to have a good working knowledge of these, and to follow them closely whilst formulating mechanical and electrical design solutions. We often have to design the scheme around the process of installation, in order to meet tight timescales in school holidays, whilst factoring in budget limitations. In addition, we work with the architect and the main contractor to optimise the learning and working experience for staff and students, ensuring the premises are operating at the right temperatures, with the maximum amount of natural light.
