Sandwell College Construction Skills Workshop

CGJ Services have recently completed works for the above project in West Bromwich.

As part of new developments at Sandwell College, a small workshop facility has been constructed in the rear of the Science, Engineering & Manufacturing Centre on West Bromwich High Street

The unit is a practical space containing workshop facilities with workbenches, pillar drills, lathes and other equipment for manufacture. It also contains welding facilities and a storage area for the storage of materials to be used in the workshop.

Due to the intended use of the building, electrical services is the predominant area of works, to provide power supplies for the workshop equipment, all with emergency shut-off facilities.

Water and compressed air supplies are available for the relevant equipment. Hot water is provided to sanitaryware as required via local electric water heaters.

Environmental control is provided mechanical heat recovery units, providing supply / extract air, with DX based units to heat and cool the space to provide a comfortable working environment.

All lighting is provided by LED fittings, and a PV array is provided on the roof area. Security & access control is provided as an integrated extension to the main building.

The majority of the installed services were left exposed, to reflect a typical working environment.

The project was completed in Summer 2025.
